Once again, Haiku has surfaced thanks to the prompting of DeAnn at our Spiritual Direction gathering:
Tsunami
Earth rumbles and shakes.
Walls of water pound the earth.
Stricken souls remain.
The Path
Placidly walk along
The path I have walked in advance,
Lovingly prepared.
Expecting
Praying, expecting
God will meet me in this place.
My strength is in You.
Friends
Quickly the years pass,
Our friendship grows deeper still,
Blessing beyond words.
Hope
Waiting and watching,
Knowing Your love prevails,
Keep me patient, Lord.

Silence
Silence is becoming a treasured commodity in our world. When practiced, it's like a warm blanket in the cold of our world. Despite its welcoming, we rarely seek it and somtimes try to fill it with the unimportant and mundane. In the silence, I find my refuge and my preparation in this Lenten season. You are in the silence, Lord!

Presence
I know you're with me, Lord
Your Word assures me of Your presence.
My heart yearns for time and space
To find the deep connection with You
That my heart desires above all else.
Why, then, do less important things
Clutter my life and crowd out Your peace?
Why is my day consumed by the mundane
Instead of recognizing the miracles all around?
Capture my heart and my imagination, Lord,
With the wondrous plan You have for me
Crafted before my birth to give glory to Your name.
Open the floodgate of my life
To be significant for You
An oasis for others in our parched world.

Haiku Fun
Back to some writing after a long break...had a wonderful time at LW writer's group last evening and tried some Haiku for the first time...here is what emerged:
Waiting
Waiting for results
It is hard to be patient
Can you hear me Lord?
Years
The years pass by fast
Too quickly here then gone
Cherish them today.
Rest
Glorious God above
Savior, healer, provider
Let me rest in You.
Motherhood
Worried, anxious Mom
Loving unconditionally
Surely trusting God.
Senior Year
Senior year is here
Brand new opportunities
Bridge to the future

True Colors
No makeup, no curling iron, no perfume, no plans - just me, before God. Wow...that makes me smile; the realization that I know that I can be that way before God. It's His unconditional, not human love that is like a magnet in our world of image, looks and career plans. Why, then, do we turn to the world for our validation? The God of the Universe loves us "as is" - what else is there to search for? So simple, but so hard to stay centered in.

My Center
Jesus
My center
Hope and light
In the storms of life
Praise for the multitude of blessings
Your majesty rains downs
Endlessly, faithfully
Perfect love

Your Voice
Lord, let me hear your voice
Amid the din of everyday life.
In the quiet of a new morning
Let me hear You clearly and surely.
Your voice quiets my soul
With an assurance of your presence.
Your love envelops me
Like a warm blanket on a cold night.
How can I be sure that it's You that I hear
And not the desires of my human heart?
Your voice brings peace to my innermost parts.
Your voice is filled with the Spirit's fruits.
Your voice is my rock, my anchor, my salvation.
